Pedestrians in the intersection on a green light

When you turn right on red, what must you be ready to do?
The rule
A green light doesn't let you go before people on foot: yield to every pedestrian in the intersection. When you turn right on red, be ready to yield to them too.
Right on red is allowed unless a sign forbids it. You must yield to pedestrians and traffic first.
From the SCDMV Driver's License Manual, page 10-1. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
