Practice question · Safety and the law

Your car breaks down on a busy road. Where should it go?

The rule

If your car breaks down, get all four wheels out of the traffic lanes as soon as you can (or have it moved), ideally where it can be seen for 200 feet each way; turn on hazard lights, get passengers out on the side away from traffic, and call *FHP or police.

Move the car so all four wheels are out of the traffic lanes as soon as possible, then turn on your hazard lights.

From the Official Florida Driver License Handbook, page 78. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
