Practice question · Safety and the law

On a beginner's permit, who must sit in front with you from 6 a.m. to midnight?

The rule

On a beginner's permit, between 6 a.m. and midnight, a licensed driver 21 or older with 1 year or more of driving experience must sit in the front seat with you.

A permit holder needs a licensed driver, at least 21 with one year or more of driving experience, in the front seat.

From the SCDMV Driver's License Manual, page 1-4. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
