While you pass another car, may you go over the speed limit to get by quickly?
The rule
Going over the speed limit while passing is illegal. A pass must be finished before a No Passing zone begins.
Passing never allows speeding. If you can't pass at a legal speed, don't pass.
From the Virginia Driver's Manual, section 3, page 17. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
