An animal suddenly runs into the road in front of you. Which move does the handbook warn against?
The rule
If an animal runs in front of you, don't swerve into oncoming traffic or off the road: that can cause a worse crash than hitting the animal. Animals are most active at dawn and dusk; report a crash with a large animal such as a deer to law enforcement.
Don't swerve into oncoming traffic or off the road to miss an animal. That can cause a worse crash than hitting it.
From the Official Florida Driver License Handbook, page 71. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
