A garbage truck with workers is stopped ahead with flashing amber lights. You can't change lanes. What must you do?
The rule
Coming up on a postal vehicle, or a vehicle with sanitation workers, showing flashing yellow, amber, white or red lights, move to a lane not next to it if you can. If not, slow to at least 10 mph under the limit or 25 mph, whichever is higher, and be ready to stop. Fine: up to $250.
If you can't move to a lane away from a stopped sanitation or mail vehicle with flashing lights, slow to 10 mph under the limit or 25 mph, whichever is more.
From the Georgia Drivers' Manual, page 25. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DDS have the final word.
