What is the youngest age for a Class D driver's license?

The rule

You can't get a Class D license until you're at least 16 1/2, have held your permit in good standing for six months in a row, and have finished RMV-approved driver education. Drivers from 16 1/2 to 18 are junior operators.

The earliest you can get a Class D license is 16 1/2, after six months on your permit and driver education.

From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 3. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
