Headlights on with your wipers
A free practice question for the Massachusetts permit test, with the answer explained.

It's a gray afternoon and you turn on your windshield wipers for light rain. What else must you turn on?
The rule
Whenever your windshield wipers are on, your headlights and taillights must be on too; daytime running lights don't count. Headlights are also required whenever you can't see people or vehicles 500 feet ahead.
Any time your wipers are on, your headlights and taillights must be on as well, even in the daytime.
From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 45. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
