Massachusetts RMV visit checklist
For your learner's permit exam. Print it, or keep it open on your phone.
Everyone
- A reservation at an RMV Service Center. Starting the application online at Mass.Gov/RMV saves time.
- Your completed learner's permit application.
- Original identity documents from the RMV's acceptable list (Mass.Gov/ID). No photocopies, nothing laminated.
- Proof of your Social Security number, or the paperwork the RMV accepts instead.
- The $30 learner's permit exam fee.
- Glasses or contacts, if you need them to see far: there's a vision test.
Under 18, also
- You're at least 16.
- A parent or guardian signs the back of your application.
- Not a parent? The person signing brings proof of their guardian status.
