How close to a STOP sign may you park?

The rule

Parking or standing is banned within 30 feet of a traffic light, a STOP sign or a YIELD sign.

No parking or standing within 30 feet of STOP signs, YIELD signs and traffic lights. Crosswalks at intersections need 20 feet and hydrants 15.

From the New York State Driver's Manual, page 43. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
