At a pedestrian crosswalk signal, what does a solid yellow tell drivers?
The rule
At a pedestrian crosswalk signal, drivers slow down for flashing yellow, get ready to stop on solid yellow, stop on solid red, and on flashing red stop, then go with caution.
At a crosswalk signal, flashing yellow means slow down and solid yellow means get ready to stop.
From the Maryland Driver's Manual, Section 4, page 19. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the MVA have the final word.
