WRONGWAY

You see this sign facing you. What has happened?

The rule

A red-and-white Wrong Way sign is a regulatory sign you must obey: you are heading the wrong way and must not go on.

A red Wrong Way sign means you are going against traffic. It is a regulatory sign, so you must obey it. Do not go on.

From the Maryland Driver's Manual, Section 4, page 21. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the MVA have the final word.
