Massachusetts permit test in other languages, audio and with help
You don't have to read the exam on a screen in English. Here is what the manual says about other languages, the audio exam and accommodations, with sources.

Ways to take the learner's permit exam
- Other languages
- The Class D exam is offered in more than 30 languages, among them Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Vietnamese and American Sign Language. Ask for yours.Source: Manual chapter 1, Obtaining your license, pages 17 and 18
- Audio exam
- Anyone can choose it, with no booking: an automated voice reads the questions and answers through headphones. Bring your own. The time limit is still 25 minutes.Source: Manual chapter 1, Obtaining your license, pages 17 and 18
- Accommodations
- With a cognitive or physical disability you can ask for extra time or an RMV employee to read the exam aloud. Call 857-368-8105.Source: Manual chapter 1, Obtaining your license, pages 17 and 18
- Deaf and hard of hearing
- Ask for an ASL interpreter on the same number; the RMV books the exam and the interpreter.Source: Manual chapter 1, Obtaining your license, pages 17 and 18
