Practice question · Signs and markings

What does an orange sign beside the road tell you?

The rule

Sign colors: red stop or ban, green directions, yellow warning, black and white rules, blue services, brown recreation and scenic sites, orange road work, fluorescent yellow-green school, bike and walker warnings, fluorescent pink incidents, purple electronic tolls.

Orange is the color for construction and maintenance warnings. When you see it, slow down and watch for workers and equipment.

From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 83. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
