After you park on a street, when should you keep your road-side door closed?
The rule
After you park, don't open the door on the street side if it would get in the way of bicyclists or other traffic.
Once parked, don't open the road-side door if it would get in the way of bicyclists or other traffic. Wait until it's clear.
From the New York State Driver's Manual, page 42. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
