When is a road often the most slippery?
The rule
Roads turn slick in a rainstorm, most of all when it hasn't rained for a while and oil has built up on the pavement. Slow down when the rain starts.
The first rain after a dry spell mixes with oil built up on the road, making it very slick. Slow down as soon as it starts to rain.
From the Official Florida Driver License Handbook, page 72. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
