Practice question · Alcohol and drugs

You're over 21 and fail a chemical test with a BAC of 0.08 or more. How long is your license suspended?

The rule

Failing a chemical test (BAC 0.08 or more; 0.02 or more under 21) brings an immediate suspension: over 21, 30 days or until the case ends; 18 to 21, 30 days plus 180 days; under 18, 30 days plus one year.

Over 21, failing a chemical test means a 30-day suspension, or until your court case ends, whichever is shorter.

From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 69. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
