Practice question · Parking

At a regular crosswalk with no curb extension, how close may you park?

The rule

Keep your parked car at least 20 feet from any crosswalk, whether it is painted (marked) or not (unmarked). Where a curb extension is present the distance is 15 feet instead.

Park at least 20 feet from a crosswalk, painted or not, so drivers can see people crossing. Crosswalk 20 ft, hydrant 15 ft, wheelchair ramp 3 ft.

From the California Driver Handbook, section 6, page 28. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
