Fire hydrant

How close to a fire hydrant may you park?

The rule

Keep your parked car at least 15 feet from a fire hydrant, and the same 15 feet from a fire station driveway.

Never park within 15 feet of a fire hydrant. The same 15 feet applies to a fire station driveway. Hydrant 15 ft, crosswalk 20 ft, wheelchair ramp 3 ft.

From the California Driver Handbook, section 6, page 28. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
