What does a red curb mean?
The rule
You may not stop, stand, or park at a red curb. The one allowance is for buses, which may stop in a red zone marked for buses.
A red curb means no stopping, standing, or parking, not even for a moment. Buses may stop only where the red zone is marked for buses.
From the California Driver Handbook, section 6, page 28. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
