What is a yellow curb for?
The rule
A yellow curb is a loading zone for passengers and freight. Don't stay past the posted time, and if your vehicle isn't commercial you're usually required to stay with it.
Yellow means loading: you may load or unload passengers and freight, but no longer than the posted time. In a regular car, you usually must stay with it.
From the California Driver Handbook, section 6, page 28. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
