Which way do you drive around a roundabout?

The rule

Roundabout traffic moves in one direction, counterclockwise, around a center island. You enter heading right, and once inside you don't stop or pass.

Traffic in a roundabout flows one way around a center island: counterclockwise. You enter by heading to the right.

From the California Driver Handbook, section 7, page 40. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
