Your 16-year-old passenger is riding in the back seat. Must they wear a seat belt?
The rule
Everyone riding in the front seat must wear a seat belt, and every occupant under 18 must wear one in any seat. Georgia's belt law is primary: officers may stop you for it alone.
Everyone in the front seat must wear a seat belt, and anyone under 18 must wear one in any seat.
From the Georgia Drivers' Manual, page 24. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DDS have the final word.
