The rule
A triangle YIELD sign means slow to a safe speed and stop if you need to, then let vehicles already in the intersection or close by on the other road go first.
A YIELD sign means slow down and be ready to stop. Let any car, bike rider or person on foot go before you, then continue.
From the Georgia Drivers' Manual, page 28. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DDS have the final word.
