You reach an intersection where another vehicle is already inside it. Who has the right of way?
The rule
When you come to an intersection, let any traffic already in it go first, for example a car already turning left while your light is green.
When you approach an intersection, any traffic already in it goes first. Let that vehicle clear before you enter, even on a green light.
From the New York State Driver's Manual, page 34. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
