When may you pass another vehicle on the right?
The rule
You may pass on the right when the vehicle ahead has signaled and is turning left, but not if you would have to drive off the pavement or the main part of the road to get around it.
You may pass on the right when the vehicle ahead has signaled and is turning left. Be careful: it may block your view, and never leave the pavement to pass.
From the Virginia Driver's Manual, section 3, page 17. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
