What does the red circle and slash on this sign mean?
The rule
A red circle crossed by a slash means no: the picture inside shows what you may not do, such as a turn.
A red circle with a red line through a picture means you may not do what is shown. This sign means no left turn.
From the Virginia Driver's Manual, section 2, page 7. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
