Practice question · Alcohol and drugs

You are over 21 and driving your own car. At what BAC does driving become illegal?

The rule

Drivers over 21 break the law if their blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is 0.08% or more. Lower limits apply on DUI probation, in vehicles that need a commercial license, and when carrying paying passengers.

If you are over 21, driving with a BAC of 0.08% or more is illegal. Drivers under 21, on DUI probation, in commercial vehicles or with paying passengers have lower limits.

From the California Driver Handbook, section 9, page 73. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
