Your car stalls on the tracks and a train is coming. Which way should you run?
The rule
If your car stalls on the tracks, get everyone out and away right away. If a train is coming, run away from the tracks at a 45-degree angle toward the train, then call 911 or *FHP. Once the warning lights flash, a train can arrive in as little as 20 seconds.
If a train is coming, run away from the tracks at a 45-degree angle toward the train, so you are less likely to be hit by your car or debris.
From the Official Florida Driver License Handbook, page 80. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
