The rule

A driver carrying a child under 8 must secure the child in a child passenger restraint suited to the child's height and weight. Taxis and public transit vehicles are exempt.

A child under 8 must ride in a child passenger restraint that fits the child's height and weight.

From the Georgia Drivers' Manual, page 24. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DDS have the final word.
