Practice question · Alcohol and drugs

A medicine label says not to drive. You take it and drive, and it impairs you. What could happen?

The rule

Illegal drugs, some prescription and over-the-counter medicines and inhalants can impair driving. Driving impaired by them can lead to criminal charges and a suspended or revoked license.

Some prescription and over-the-counter medicines affect driving. If a label says not to drive and the medicine impairs you, you could face a criminal charge.

From the Maryland Driver's Manual, Section 6, page 33. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the MVA have the final word.
