Can you be charged with OUI for driving after taking a legal prescription drug?
The rule
OUI laws cover drugs too: street drugs, medicines a doctor prescribes and medicines bought off the shelf can all make it dangerous and illegal to drive, and you can be OUI on a prescribed drug.
OUI laws cover alcohol and drugs. You can be considered OUI on prescription drugs, and it's illegal to drive while impaired by any substance.
From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 74. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
