Practice question · Right of way

Is it legal to pass a vehicle that is stopped at a crosswalk?

The rule

Don't pass a vehicle that has stopped or is slowing down for a pedestrian. On a multi-lane road, never go past a car stopped at a crosswalk until you've checked for people.

Never pass a car that's stopped at a crosswalk. The driver may be waiting for someone you can't see.

From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 83. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
