The rule

Refusing a breath test, or a BAC of 0.08% or more, when you're charged with DUI brings an automatic suspension: 7 days for a first offense.
From the Virginia Driver's Manual, section 5, page 30. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
