A school bus has stopped across a four-lane road with no median, red lights flashing. You're coming the other way. Do you stop?
The rule
You don't have to stop for a school bus with flashing red lights only when you're going the opposite way on a road divided by a median or barrier, with the bus on the other side. A four-lane road with no median means you stop.
Only a median or barrier excuses drivers going the other way. On a four-lane road with no median, stop and stay stopped until everyone is clear and the bus moves again.
From the Virginia Driver's Manual, section 3, page 15. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
