When may you keep driving past a school bus that has its red lights flashing?
The rule
Only a physical barrier lets you keep going: on a multi-lane road divided by a barrier you don't stop for a school bus on the other side. With painted lines only, every driver stops.
You may keep going only on a multi-lane road split by a physical barrier, with the bus across that barrier from you. Otherwise, stop.
From the Maryland Driver's Manual, Section 7, page 39. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the MVA have the final word.
