Marked and unmarked crosswalks
A free practice question for the Maryland permit test, with the answer explained.

A crosswalk has no painted lines. Do pedestrians in it have the right of way?
The rule
With no traffic signal, stop for a pedestrian in any crosswalk, whether it is painted or not. Most intersections have a crosswalk even without lines.
Not all crosswalks are painted. With no traffic signal, stop for people in a marked or unmarked crosswalk.
From the Maryland Driver's Manual, Section 7, page 37. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the MVA have the final word.
