You want to turn left at an intersection. An oncoming car is close and going straight. Who goes first?
The rule
When you turn left, yield to oncoming traffic in the opposite lane, and to pedestrians when you turn on a green signal.
Turning left, you yield to drivers in the opposing lane, and to pedestrians when you turn on a green signal. Wait for a safe gap.
From the Maryland Driver's Manual, Section 3, page 14. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the MVA have the final word.
