You want to turn left at an intersection. An oncoming car is close and going straight. Who goes first?
The rule
Before any left turn, yield to oncoming vehicles, to vehicles already in the intersection, and to pedestrians and bicyclists crossing your path.
Turning left, you must yield to oncoming vehicles, vehicles already in the intersection, and people walking or biking across your path. Wait for a safe gap.
From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 100. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
