Which crash must you report to the RMV and the police?
The rule
You must report any crash you're in that kills or injures anyone, or does $1,000 or more in damage to property. Telling your insurance company alone isn't enough.
Report any crash that injures or kills anyone, or does $1,000 or more in damage to property.
From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 131. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
