Cars arrive at a four-way stop at different times. Who goes first after everyone has stopped?
The rule
Where a stop sign has an All Way or 4 Way plate, every vehicle stops. The first to arrive goes first; if two arrive together, the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right.
At a four-way stop, everyone stops fully. The first to arrive goes first. If two arrive together, the one on the right goes first.
From the Virginia Driver's Manual, section 2, page 6. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
