At a STOP sign with a limit line, where should you stop?

The rule

At a STOP sign, your stopping point is the limit line. With no limit line, stop before the crosswalk. With no crosswalk either, stop just before the intersection.

At a STOP sign, the limit line shows where to stop. Stop behind it, not in the crosswalk or the intersection.

From the California Driver Handbook, section 7, page 35. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
