Within how many feet of a car you are following must you dim your high beams?
The rule
Use low beams, not high beams, when you are within 300 feet of a vehicle ahead of you going your way.
Once you are 300 feet or closer behind a vehicle going your way, switch to low beams.
From the Official Florida Driver License Handbook, page 73. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
