The traffic light ahead is dark, like this. What should you do?
The rule
If a traffic signal is out and no officer is directing traffic, treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
If a traffic light is out, stop as if there were STOP signs in every direction. Then go carefully when it is safe.
From the Official Florida Driver License Handbook, page 51. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
