What do double solid white lines between two lanes mean?
The rule
Double solid white lines between lanes going the same way mean lane changes are not allowed. Double dashed white lines may be crossed. At an HOV lane, double white lines mean no entry and a dashed line means you may enter.
Double solid white lines mean no lane changes across them. Wait until the marking changes to a broken white line.
From the Georgia Drivers' Manual, page 36. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DDS have the final word.
