What does a broken yellow center line next to your lane mean?
The rule
On a two-lane road, a broken yellow line on your side marks a passing zone: you may pass when it is safe. When the line closest to you is solid, passing isn't allowed.
A broken yellow line next to your lane means you may pass, but only when it's safe.
From the Georgia Drivers' Manual, page 18. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DDS have the final word.
