What do double solid white lines between two lanes mean?
The rule
Two solid white lines between lanes going the same way may not be crossed. A broken white line may be crossed to change lanes once you've signaled and it's safe.
Double solid white lines separate lanes going your way, and you may not cross them. Wait until the line between the lanes is broken.
From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 90. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
