A fire truck answering an alarm passes you. What's the closest you may follow it?
The rule
Unless you're on official business, don't follow a fire truck answering an alarm, or another emergency vehicle, closer than 200 feet, and don't park within 500 feet of a fire truck stopped at a fire alarm.
Stay at least 200 feet behind a fire truck answering an alarm or another emergency vehicle. Following closer is against the law.
From the Georgia Drivers' Manual, page 24. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DDS have the final word.
