Your light turns green, but a pedestrian is still crossing in front of you. Who has the right of way?
The rule
Pedestrians get the right-of-way where streets are crossed, though they must follow traffic signals. Yield to them when you turn on a green light, or on red after stopping.
Street crossings are where pedestrians go first. On a green light, go only after people crossing are clear.
From the Maryland Driver's Manual, Section 7, page 37. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the MVA have the final word.
