Practice question · Right of way

When does a pedestrian using a white cane or guide dog have the right of way?

The rule

Always stop for a blind pedestrian (one with a white cane or a guide dog) crossing a street, and stay stopped until the person is safely across. Don't honk or wave them on.

People using guide dogs or white canes are blind or visually impaired. Always stop for them when they cross, and wait until they are safely across.

From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 100. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
